A Pirie woman fell just short of taking out honours at the South Australian Volunteer Awards, getting named a finalist in her category.
Uniting Country SA volunteer coordinator Kylie Crouch was one of 17 people around South Australia nominated for the Excellence in Volunteer Management award.

While Ms Crouch did not win the award, she said she was still incredibly honoured to be nominated at all, let alone be named as one of the six finalists.
"I love my volunteers, I love the organisation, so it's nice to be recognised for the work that you do," Ms Crouch said.
"I didn't win the award, but it was great recognition to even make that top six."

The awards were presented at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Monday, June 6, and nominees from all over the state came in hopes of winning their category.

Ms Crouch, however, said she was actually scared of being named a finalist as she really does not like being in the limelight.
"The thought I had to get up and walk down stairs and hopefully not trip over, then go up on stage and have someone read out why I was nominated was a little bit daunting to me because I don't like that media spotlight," she said.
"I like just to be in the background with the volunteers and putting the limelight on them, not myself.
"It was quite nerve-wracking, but exciting at the same time."
She said she does not need recognition to love her job, and that working with people who want to volunteer is an award in itself.
"It is one of those jobs where you don't know what you're going to get each day," Ms Crouch said.
"Each new volunteer brings a different skillset, a new different take on volunteering.
"No two are the same, everyone is here for different reasons and it's my job to listen to the potential volunteer and work with them to obtain a working with children check - I love it."
Ms Crouch thanked her team at Uniting Country SA for nominating her and hopes to continue working with volunteers into her future.
