Softball season kicks off

Tigers 11 defeated Cougars 3

Tigers started cautiously against Cougars and really hit their straps in the second and third innings giving them an unassailable lead.

It was a welcome return to softball after a season's absence for Tigers' Maddie Baldock. 3K2's and a safe hit Baldock was a solid contributor in their win.

Baldock conceded only four safe hits in five innings.

Talisha Hillier for Tigers is coming into her own and had two safe hits, while Rachel Dall-Afford, playing for her new club had three safe hits for three at bats.

For Cougars, Ann Russack toiled valiantly on the mound, Rhij Paulauskas performed well in her elevation to the senior side.

Solly Cats 10 defeated Checkmates 1

What a difference a day makes. Cats lined up with a very strong fielding side, assisted by the inclusion of Harper Bridley into the side.

Jerry Lee Brown produced a polished performance, elevated from the A2 side.

Checkmates included promising junior Bridie Ellis Nunn into their side and Rachel Ciampi toiled tirelessly for her side.

Cats were simply too strong on the day, but it is after all early days.


Solly Cats 13 defeated Checkmates 9

Meteha DeGeronimo was a standout leadoff batter for Checkmates in last year's grand final replay with two safe hits.

Unfortunately, they were the only safe hits for the game.

Checkmates were patient in their batting, getting on bases with walks, they will be looking to be more aggressive in the following weeks to get bat to ball and move the runners around with more aggression Solly Cats Danica Manfield registered three safe hits from three at bats, including an amazing home run out to right field.

Tigers 16 defeated Cougars 2

A strong batting performance by Tigers produced a win for the black and golds.

Jessica Finlayson performed well, conceding only 2 runs. It was good to see a strong contribution from Ellie Soutar for Cougars.

Overall a dominant win with Tigers batting and fielding strength coming to the fore.


Solly Cats 13 defeated Cougars 6

Cats had the luxury of a full team plus a bench of four players.

Junior Maelie Williams graduated from the Tigers under thirteen team of last year and her performance in the key infield position was extremely good, she had plenty of the play and registered 3 outs as well as a safe hit.

Mia Williams showed that she has not lost of any last year's form with four K2's and two safe hits.

Ella Levi showed class catching to Mia and new player Tami Clifford acquitted herself well at third base which as a significant effort for a new player into the side showed class.
