A man has been arrested after he allegedly broke into a Port Pirie bowling club last week.

Overnight between Wednesday night March 3 and Thursday March 4, the bowling club on Halley Street was broken into and a computer and telescope was stolen.

As a result of the police investigation and CCTV, Port Pirie police ascertained a suspect responsible for the break-in, searching several residential properties around Port Pirie locating some of the stolen items.

On Sunday March 7, 2021, police patrols attended an address in Port Pirie locating the suspect and the remaining stolen property.

A 34-year-old man of no fixed place was arrested and charged with being unlawfully on premises, serious criminal trespass and theft, he has been refused police bail and will appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on Tuesday 9 March.

Police were able to successfully return all the stolen property to the local Port Pirie bowling club.
