MOVIE star Dwayne Johnson has sent out a thank you message on social media just weeks after filming for his television series Young Rock took place at Capalaba and Wynnum near Brisbane in Queensland.
Johnson thanked Australian cast and crew as well as directors for their work on the project, which is being shot at locations across south-east Queensland.
The series, picked up by US television network NBC in January, chronicles Johnson's formative years.
Capalaba hosted film crews during October, with scenes shot at places like Wicked Brew Cafe on Dollery Road.
A karate school premises was turned into a body building gym for a shoot at Wynnum later in the month.
Filming also took place at Strathpine north of Brisbane, with American actor Bradley Constant seen playing the role of Dwayne Johnson.
The former professional wrestler said in a social media video that he was excited the series was being filmed in Queensland.
"This series ... is a personal passion project of mine," he said. "It is a series, as many of you know by now, that is based on what I have called my Forrest Gump life growing up as a kid."

Johnson said the series would capture stories from his childhood, right through to his time playing gridiron with the University of Miami and beyond.
"All the ups and downs, the crazy stories that have accumulated over the years, this series Young Rock is going to showcase all of them," he said.
He personally thanked federal Arts Minister Paul Fletcher.
"I am sorry that we couldn't do the traditional ribbon cutting as we were all looking forward to it, but of course under COVID conditions we had to take these different precautions," Johnson said.
"I want to thank all of our incredible partners in Australia for being so welcoming towards our production and, of course, our Australian directors ... "
"To all of our local Australian cast and crew, thank you guys. It is truly an honour to be working with such great local talent, as you guys are making this dream come true ... "
Filming on the series continues.
