Finals on hold and awards suspended amid COVID-19

John Bellifemini's soccer update

Preliminary Finals Remain on Hold

The FSA will endeavour to complete the soccer season that is stuck in limbo and at the Preliminary Finals stage and probably just two weeks from playing out this Covid-19 worrying sporting experience.

After a number of restrictions were lifted last weekend indoor and outdoor sports as well as training did not get the all clear suggesting that the resumption of finals soccer for all three leagues could restart in ten days and the following weekend.

A spokesman for the FSA stated "we have come so far and are committed to completing the season if permitted" and its two weekends and just four serious finals games away from crowning three champion teams from each the Premier League, State League1 and State League 2.

More relevant in State League 2 the Adelaide Cobras await on the winners from the Eastern United prelim against Gawler Eagles - In State League 2 Sturt Lions wait on who will win between South Adelaide and White City, while in the NPL the Adelaide Comets will need to play Campbelltown City or Adelaide City.

Preliminary Finals winners in the two State Leagues will win promotion along with Cobras and Sturt Lions.

Demon's awards put on hold

The Northern Demons Awards that were supposed to have taken place last Friday night was postponed due to Covid restrictions and SA's 'hard lockdown' just a day or two prior to the club's end of season club presentation event.

A new date for the trophy night will be set as soon as this health issue is in an accepted control and everyone returns to near normality and further restriction are lifted and get the go-ahead to proceed with their end of season social closures to their sporting year.

The Northern Demons presentations that have been 'put on hold' were almost held when preparations that a virtual club evening was to go on, but this was soon stopped.

Unfortunately for Football South Australia that has had a significantly extra long league season and has seen its imminent soccer year forced to overcome major interruptions and something that has effected and influenced all sports and delayed completion generally.

COVID-19 Mini Lockdown

All League Finals Remain Delayed.

All Community Sport indoor and outdoor including training remains cancelled after other restriction were lifted last weekend and that FSA League Soccer could start before 1st December.

However this is only on the proviso that the monitoring of the recent outbreak continues to improve and giving the all clear for the delayed Preliminary Finals and Grand Finals to be completed.

The next few days will be a defining.
