Pirie woman to face court for riding under the influence

A woman will face court after she was caught riding a pushbike while under the influence of alcohol in Port Pirie South.

Shortly after 6pm on Wednesday, July 29 police allege they saw a pushbike being ridden without lights on a Wandearah Road footpath when it turned down Grey Terrace.

It was alleged as police turned onto Grey Terrace they noticed the rider had fallen off the bike.

The rider, a 45-year-old woman from Risdon Park, was taken to the police station where she underwent a breath test and allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.192, almost four times the legal limit.

The woman was reported for drink-riding on a pushbike and riding at night without lights. She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Police would like to remind people that it is an offence to ride a pushbike while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
