Traffic stop leads to drug haul

Two men will face court charged with drug offences following a routine traffic stop near Port Pirie.

About 2.15pm on Wednesday, July 29 patrols allege they saw a silver Holden travelling north along the Augusta Highway.

Police allege they stopped the car and drug tested the driver, a 30-year-old Whyalla Stuart man, who returned a positive result to cannabis and methamphetamine or "ice". His sample will be sent to Forensic Science SA for further analysis.

It was alleged police had cause to search the car and found 2.5 kilograms of cannabis inside the vehicle.

Both the driver and 38-year-old passenger were charged with trafficking a large commercial amount of cannabis.
