Pirie council starts planned upgrades to administration centre

The Port Pirie Regional Council will soon benefit from an upgrade to the front counter area in its administration centre.

The $70,000 upgrades will include a self-service kiosk and functional, modernised appearance.

Works will begin at the administration centre in Ellen Street on Monday, July 20 and are expected to be completed within four weeks.

An interim front counter will be set up in the foyer area of the council chambers.

A council spokesperson said the works were planned to address termite damage in the administration office area over the past 12-months, with an extensive program put in place for the treatment and eradication of termites.

Council management reviewed the customer service function and saw the repairs to termite damage as an opportunity to upgrade the administration centre layout.

Port Pirie residents can also expect to benefit from the upgrades as the self-serve kiosk will enable customers to lodge applications online from the council office with assistance from the customer service staff.

Council has acknowledged that the works coincide with the dog registrations renewal period and asks residents to register online where possible through the Dogs And Cats Online website before Monday, August 31.

The renewal period will be extended for two weeks following the completion of the front counter works on Friday, August 14.

The Port Pirie Regional Council will remain open for business while the works are being conducted, but encourages residents to consider other customer service channels below where possible to minimise any inconvenience:
