Geelong forward Gary Rohan can escape with a fine after being cited for two incidents from the Cats' AFL win against Brisbane.

The 29-year-old was booked for engaging in rough conduct against Lions defender Ryan Lester in the first quarter of Thursday night's game at the SCG.

Rohan can accept a $1000 fine by pleading guilty.

A first-quarter striking report against Rohan on Brisbane youngster Brandon Starcevich was thrown out after the match review officer deemed the actions not unreasonable in the circumstances.

Lions defender Grant Birchall can also accept a $1000 fine if he pleads guilty to striking Geelong captain Joel Selwood.

The second-quarter incident was graded as intentional conduct with low impact.

Birchall, a four-time Hawthorn premiership player, renewed an old rivalry with Selwood during the round-six contest, which the Cats won by 27 points.

The Cats veteran escaped any sanction despite making contact to Birchall's head during a tussle in the second quarter.
