Saturday marked the last round of netball for some, and others fought to make it into the top four. Finals start this week and it has been a close year in most grades, a credit to the clubs' grading committees. Also on Saturday, the association congratulated the A, A Reserve and B Grade Player of the Year and runner-up as well as the Rising Star for A Grade 2019. Top honours in this year's A Grade were won by Kirby Symons of Blue Wren and runner-up was SMC's Calalou Klinger. Both have had a great year and are very deserving recipients of their respective awards. A Reserve came down to the last game and ended in a tie between Ottavia Edwards from Central Risdon and Andrea Tyler from Blue Wren. B Grade was all about the defenders this year with Ashton Puddy from SMC bagging Best and Fairest and veteran Suella Davies taking the runner-up award. Solomontown's Georgia Pryor, after making the switch from SMC, took out the Rising Star (aka Rookie) for A Grade in 2019. Georgia has definitely made an impact this year at such a young age. The Team of the Year consisted of: GK - Calalou Klinger, GD - Samarah Wark, WD - Kelsey Athanasos, C - Emma Hayes, WA - Ashleigh Possingham, GA - Kirby Symons, GS - Cara Fiebig, Reserve Centre - Tiah Peek, Reserve Goals - Tegan Edwards, Reserve Defense - Chloe Knibbs The association celebrated two new life membership recipients; Jodie Langsford who has been involved in the committee for 10 years and Abby Zubrinich who has been most recently president for the last 5 (very busy) years.
