Lions' centreman and reigning Recorder Medallist Jordan Fuller will represent South Australia Country in Perth on Saturday.

The footballer was chosen in the team to clash with Western Australia Country in the curtainraiser to the West Coast Eagles versus North Melbourne AFL match at Optus Oval.

Fuller, 25, played all his football from junior grades upwards with Proprietary-Risdon.

His skills were on show in the Lions-Port match at Memorial Oval last Saturday when he took a one-handed mark in front of the Function Centre.

"It just stuck," he said, almost apologetically, when The Recorder interviewed him about his upcoming first match for SA Country.

He said he would leave for Perth on Friday afternoon and did not know what position he would take on the field.

He assumed WA Country would be a strong team.

He expected it to be the biggest crowd he had ever played in front of.

"My parents are proud and excited," he said.

His coach Matt Promnitz has been involved at top level as coach or assistant coach with Fuller for seven years.

"He is a really smooth, gifted footballer," he said.

"He has everything a footballer wants. He is a beautiful mark and kick and has a strong work-rate.

"He has won one Madigan and three Recorder medals. I am proud of him."

South Augusta's Kriston Thompson was chosen with Fuller as the Spencer Gulf League's representatives in the team.

Four Northern Areas Football Association players have been selected. They are Dylan Hewett, of Broughton- Mundoora, Lukas Kangur, of Booleroo Melrose Wilmington, and Brad Eagle and William Combe, both of Crystal Brook.

The Croweaters versus Sandgropers clash should be close - their last match was won by SA by five points at Adelaide Oval last year.

The match - which begins at 1.20pm SA time - will be live streamed on the SANFL website.
