LIFE-SAVER: Solomontown Football Club assistant secretary Abbee Finlayson says the new heart-starter machine could save a life.

And now for some shocking news from Solomontown Football Club ...

... a new heart-starter or defibrillator machine has been set up at the entrance to the Cats' lair for use by residents in an emergency.

The machine can be used to restart or regulate the heart of a victim of a cardiac incident.

The project was made possible by a state government grant and the machine was supplied by St John.

It was installed by club life member and premiership player Larry Rawlins.

If a person collapses, a resident can phone the 000 number listed on the outside of the installation to gain a pin code to access to the machine.

"It instructs you how to use it," said club secretary Brian Harmer.

"It is for the community including Solly members and visitors from the caravan park who attend our Friday night teas."

Assistant secretary Abbee Finlayson said it was a life-saver. "Hopefully, we never have to use it, but it is amazing to have the latest technology to save lives if necessary," she said.
