New Pirie Rotary president Pam Menadue inducted

New Rotary president Pam Menadue wants her club to "connect" with other organisations around the city.

At the presidential change-over dinner at the Virtus Soccer Club on Saturday, she said the international theme was Rotary Connecting With The World.

She said that once there were links with other service clubs and groups, Rotary could grow its contribution to the community.

Her President's Project could then be determined.

Members of Ms Menadue's other club, Soroptimist International, turned out in force for the dinner. Outgoing president Sebastian Mezzino said he originally had been intimidated when he joined the club, "but 18 years on I have never felt more comfortable than I have this year".

"Let us remember the past with gratitude, live the present with enthusiasm and look forward with confidence," he said.

He paid tribute to the fundraising efforts of Trevor Werfel who was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow.

Other Paul Harris Fellows were Angela Mezzino and Barry Mudge. Rotarian of the Year is Roger Crouch.
