DEMONS GO FOR WIN HAT-TRICK
The Northern Demons produced a real knockout performance last Saturday afternoon at Byrne Park when it pushed aside former State League 1 opponent Cove FC winning 6-0 and raced into fifth place on the ladder and in doing so pencilled in a winning hat-trick for the Joel Porter coached Reds.
The last few weeks have been highly productive for the Demons and this weekend the Reds get another break when the FFA Cup "quarter finals' take precedence over league soccer.
Meanwhile, a late Mitchell Johnson first half goal added to Daryl Pickert's 16th minute opener gave the Demons some well-timed breathing space and a 2-0 lead at halftime.
It was a game that would explode into a huge final result that now sees the local State League team kicking 11 goals and conceding just one in a purple patch of recovery work for the Byrne Park combination that puts the Reds on the right track and in similar position to last season.
The Cove team was off a tough 1-3 loss that needed extra time against Croydon Kings in its FFA Cup game over the Easter weekend, but the Northern Demons never showed any mercy to steamroll the Adelaide visitors in a precision executed contest and another needle result grabbed by Porter's team.
And in what was a consequential round eight for the Demons if the results had gone the other way the Reds 6-0 demolishing job on the Cove outfit now has the Port Pirie team sitting pretty.
Nevertheless, Joel Porter indicated last weekend that his team can further improve and while the Reds were tactically better than their opponents against a Cove possession based outfit he was pleased his players stuck to their tasks extremely well.
Porter described the State League 2 competition as an absorbing one that can produce tricks and unthinkable results and the Demons are right in the thick of things right now with more hard games in front of them and already having defeated Gawler.
But it was last season's club medallist Mateusz Marczuk who produced a blinder kicking three second half goals to kill the game off completely as the Reds' powerful and clever playmaker used the ball to perfection all afternoon.
The contest went from bad to worse for the visitors and their coach Tom Ballantyne when Cove were unable to stop the strong Marczuk and Jonno Eske who stretched the scores to 4-0 to have the contest well under wraps for the Demons at the 73rd minute mark, but the finishing touches went to near best on ground when Marczuk scored another two goals.
On Saturday, the Northern Demons had Joel Porter make way along with the injured Damien Introna and into the team came Darrell Avery, Jacob Sakoulidis and Jimmy Okello.
In the meantime, while the Demons 6-0 winning score points to a stroll in the park coach Joel Porter went on to describe that his team played impeccably against an opponent that made good goal scoring chances and did hit the post.
But last Saturday's performance was the Northern Demons best so far this season where after some first half pressure was completely alleviated in a power-house four goal second period of soccer.
The Demons next four games will be tough ones and against Pirates FC away, Cobras at home, Eastern United at home and Vipers FC away.
The Northern Demons after an ordinary start to the season have hit their straps with back-to-back home victories and also scooping a hat-trick of wins to move into the top six.

DEMONS RESERVES & UNDER 18s
The Northern Demons Reserves and Under 18s teams both suffered losses against top three teams Cove FC last Saturday afternoon at Byrne Park but in two contests that at halftime the Reds maintained winning hopes.
But it was some powerful offensive soccer displayed by the visitors that soon turned both early games in the Cove teams' favour with the Demons Under 18s losing 0-5 after trailing 0-2 at the break and the Reserves going down 1-5 after being 1-2 down.
Both Cove teams lead their respective ladders after last Saturday's wins whereas the Demons Under 18s are in fifth and the Reserves sit in ninth position.
There will be no league soccer this weekend due to FFA Cup quarter finals.
