The Make-A-Wish Fun Run is back again this year and is being held on Sunday, May 5.

The action kicks off from 9am with registrations available before the event online as well as at Solomontown Beach on the day of the event from 7.30-8.30am.

There are also other options for those who do not want to run the 10km, you can walk or enter into the 2.5km or 5km walk or run as well as relay events as well.

This year, the local committee is adding a coworker challenge to the fun run for teams of two or four.

The Port Pirie Make-A-Wish branch grant wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy; which they hope to provide precious memories for the children and their families.

Funds raised will be put towards the cherished wishes of children, entry fees for adults are $20, $10 for five-15 years, $5 for children under five and $60 for a relay team.

Major prizes will also be given to the following categories in the 10 km event:

  • Male and female runner
  • Relay team
  • Male and female walker
  • Team (three or more people with entries entered together)
  • Under 16 male and female
