Forty-eight years ago on March 12, Gaynor Armour received her gift of life, a kidney transplant.
"I cannot account for all those years - the time has just flown," she said at her neat home in Esmond Road.
"I have had a few problems along the way, mostly from the drugs that I am taking, but I still count myself very lucky."
Mrs Armour spent the special anniversary day with her husband John and dear friends at the Risdon Hotel for lunch, proudly cutting a cake. "I see the renal doctor every three months," she said.
She received her kidney at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Mr and Mrs Armour have been married for 52 years and recently celebrated their wedding anniversary.
