Dr Neni and his team win multicultural award

Neni's Dental Group, which operates dental practices in Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Nuriootpa, Tanunda and Renmark, has been honoured at the Governor's Multicultural Awards.

The group, led by Dr Neni, was a winner in the private sector category for 2018.

From humble beginnings, the group has become the biggest provider of dental health services in South Australia, servicing more than 50,000 patients from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. It has created more than 100 jobs in the country and employed migrants from 14 nationalities who speak 12 languages.

The group has sponsored overseas children's education and conducted free camps for multicultural groups, helping to build respect among individuals with varying ethnic backgrounds.

Dr Neni and his wife Dr Tan received their trophy at Government House from Governor Hon Hieu Van Le.

Premier Hon Steven Marshall congratulated the team on its success.

"It was a pleasure to attend the awards ceremony, and to formally acknowledge the strong contribution SA's multicultural society makes to our state - economically, socially and culturally," he said. "The group shows why multiculturalism is one of the state's greatest assets.

"Your organisation has grown to become SA's biggest provider of dental health services with a strong record of employing people from many diverse backgrounds, including in regional SA. This special award recognises the great work you are doing to build tolerance and understanding in our communities and to showcase the vibrant cultures and traditions that make our state such a wonderful place in which to live.

It is not just for me, but it is also for my wonderful staff and patients who have supported us.

"Congratulations on this accomplishment and I wish you and your colleagues every success in the future."

Dr Neni said he was "overwhelmed" and "extremely excited" for the group to receive the award.

"It is not just for me, but it is also for my wonderful staff and patients who have supported us," he said.

Dr Neni is a board member of the SA Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Commission that is a statutory body answerable to the Governor.
