Port Pirie Regional Council is calling on people of all ages to put on a hat and pair of gloves and join in Clean Up Australia Day.

Key sporting and recreation sites near the Port Pirie CBD will be targeted in the clean up happening on Sunday, March 3, from 10am to 12.30pm. Participants will meet at Memorial Drive before moving across to Memorial Oval, Memorial Park and Phoenix Park Wetlands.

To show its appreciation, council will provide all participants with a well deserved sausage sizzle after the clean up.

Do you want to make a difference to our communities outside of Port Pirie? Crystal Brook will have a Clean Up Australia Day event starting at Adelaide Square at 10am or you can spend the day tidying around your own patch.

In conjunction with Clean Up Australia Day, Port Pirie Regional Council is offering residents free domestic hard waste disposal for the day.

Free waste disposal will be accepted on Sunday, March 3, at the Port Pirie Transfer Station from 10am to 2pm and at the Crystal Brook Transfer Station from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

Free waste disposals will only apply on this day to:

  • Non commercial domestic waste such as general waste, green waste and domestic quantities of soil, rubble and bricks.

Items not included for free disposal are commercial hard waste, asbestos and hazardous waste.
