Man arrested after firearm possession

A 29-year-old Port Pirie man has been arrested after he was found in possession of a firearm early Saturday morning. 

At about 12.30am on Saturday January 12, police stopped and spoke to a man on Main Road. 

Officers had cause to search the man and located a black ‘bb gun’ inside his backpack, in addition to equipment for the consumption of cannabis. 

The man was charged with aggravated possession of a firearm and two counts of breaching an intervention order. 

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates court on Monday.
