Mr Stephens became the new chairman of Spencer Gulf Cities at a meeting in Port Augusta on Tuesday. Whyalla Mayor Clare McLaughlin is deputy chairman.
“We see some big things going forward with the three cities,” Mr Stephens said.
“We will be getting ourselves prepared for the federal election because there will be many political visitors to our region. We really need a direct line to the state and federal governments so we can source funding arrangements and investigate opportunities to encourage other businesses to the region.”
