Props v South Port – The Panthers had a convincing nine-wicket victory over the Pirates. The Panthers won the toss and sent the Pirates in hoping to finish the game before the forecasted rain came.  This plan worked a treat bowling the Pirates out for 49 in the 29th over.  Flynn Bullen (17) and Mitch Alchin (11) put on 28 for the first wicket before the Pirates lost 10/21. Westley Wyatt was the best with the ball for the Panthers taking 5/18 from nine overs.  Reece Fowler (2/9) and Randall Wyatt (2/0) were the other wicket takers. The Panthers made short work of the run chase taking just under ten overs to make the required runs for the loss of one wicket.  Randall Wyatt (25) and Tate Bradley (25 not out) were the best with the bat. A great win for the Panthers which might kick start their year.  The Pirates were down on personal on the weekend and will hope for a more experienced line up after the test.

Wandearah v Solly-North – The Rams had a convincing 119 run victory over the previously unbeaten Cats. The Rams batted first and in probably their best display with the bat amassed 8/170 from their 42 overs.  Captain Matt Thornton led the way making 47 while vice-captain finally made a run against the Cats making 33.  Darcy Puddy (22) and Scott Gary (18) were handy in the later overs with the bat for the Rams. James Pavlich bowled well to claim 2/30 for the Cats.  Adam Johnson (2/26) and Scott McIntyre (2/40) were the only other multiple wicket takers. At the change of innings the heavens opened and the game was delayed for about half an hour.  Play got underway for four overs before more rain and lightning saw another break in play. Once this passed the Cats lost 10/42 to be bowled out for 51.  To close the innings the Cats lost 8/8. Lee Nash top scored making 18. Andrew Congdon claimed man of the match honours taking 6/15 from eight overs.  He was on a hat trick twice but was unable to complete the task. Matt Thornton finished a great game taking 3/16. A great confidence boost for the Rams leading into the test match break.  The Cats shouldn’t have too many concerns at this stage as they have been very good so far and will surely bounce back in two weeks against the Panthers.
