Australia Day awards now open

Who is making a difference in our community?

Nominations are now open for Port Pirie’s Citizen of the Year and Community Event awards.

These awards are proudly presented at the Port Pirie Regional Council Australia Day celebrations at Solomontown Beach on January 26, 2019.

There are three categories in which nominations can be submitted under:

  • Citizen of the Year Award
  • Young Citizen of the Year Award
  • Community Event of the Year Award

These awards recognise individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to the community.

“I strongly encourage our residents to take the time and nominate local individuals or organisations who have made outstanding contributions to our community,” said Port Pirie Regional Council mayor John Rohde.

“I know we have many worthy contenders within our region that have made exceptional contributions and service to our local community.

“It is important to come together on Australia Day and recognise and reward the committed individuals and organisations who have done such wonderful work within our community to create a better place for us all.”

Winners of the council awards can also go in the running for the state awards, to be presented by the Governor of South Australia.

The closing date for award nominations is December 3, 2018.
