The Port Pirie Croquet Club has moved into its new clubhouse, marking another exciting milestone in the Memorial Oval sporting precinct project.

Excited members showcased their new facilities at a gala day held earlier this week with clubs travelling from Snowtown, Kadina, Moonta, Wallaroo and Crystal Brook.

The club’s publicity officer, Judy Nayda, said the new facilities would give the group more opportunities to grow the sport in Port Pirie.

“It is nice to have a place to call home,” she said.

In addition to a clubhouse with kitchen facilities, the club also has lighting over the greens enabling them to hold night games.

In a first for the club, they now have access to hot water and are able to better cater for visiting guests with its modern facilities. The modern amenities will come in handy next year as the club will host croquet players as part of the Masters Games.

At Monday’s gala day, the club thanked Barry Hutchinson and Rodney Lane for their work in helping the club setup in its new location.
