Visitors to the Port Pirie Pistol and Shooting Club range were most impressed with the safety and professionalism exhibited by shooters from across the state at the ‘Open’ Pistol shoot in Port Pirie on August 24, 25, and 26, 2018, on Port Broughton Road.
Competitors included Olympians Hayley Chapman , David Chapman and David Porter who are are pictured inspecting facilities.
These shooters certainly gave us a run for our money but local shooters performed admirably and also received medals.
The president and committee of the Port Pire Pistol and Shooting Club Inc. was pleased with the success as the club.
Mr Forgan thanked all the volunteers that assisted to make this event a reality.
These Open shoots are critical to allow national competitors make their respective state teams.
Visitors commented on the excellent facilities and the number of visitors attracted to the town for the event.
Budding Olympians shot some outstanding scores in Junior Air Pistol.
Competitors achieved State Qualifying scores which will allow them to compete on the National stage.
The Port Pirie and Pistol Shooting Club hope to build on the success of the weekend when they host the Masters Games in April 2019.
Further range upgrades are planned to ensure this facility showcases and attracts competitors to Port Pirie.
