Savoy Park was robbed from hosting its penultimate game of soccer by Adelaide Croatia choosing to forfeit last Saturday’s Division 3 round 15 fixture when it gave concluding advice to Savoy on Friday about its final decision.
Now, the last serious Savoy Park action will come against Para Hills on Saturday, September 8, but before that weekend more will be known about the Green and Whites ladder prediction with the final round of games to follow.
The locals have now won two games via forfeits this season and it’s unfeasible action teams are allowed to deploy where travelling north and their spot on the ladder is being considered especially where the case can be made that given a 2-0 win robs better goal difference come crunch time.
Games against cellar dweller Angle Vale and seventh-placed Croatia in the space of just over a month can hurt Savoy where I think the local amateur team has missed out on about six extra goals albeit hypothetically.
Nevertheless, with the Savoy game being the only one that was supposed to have been played the forfeit win puts Savoy on top of the ladder.
SAVOY WINS ON FORFEIT AGAIN
Late week, notice to Savoy by Adelaide Croatia and its choice to forfeit its round 15 fixture against the Green and Whites did not go well with local coach Vincent DeGioa where his team has been let down before and action being taken by opposition teams deprive the locals of crucial goals.
Currently Savoy, with Saturday’s 2-0 win against non-showing Adelaide Croatia, leads the Division 3 table over Maiwand FC but with an inferior two-goal difference and this is where the Green and Whites have been disadvantaged one understands.
Remaining round 15 league fixtures will be played this Sunday afternoon and one game appeals most to Savoy where once top team and now third ranked Rowe Park takes on Maiwand FC in an interesting game of soccer with the Park outfit capable of doing the Green and Whites a favour.
However, the locals will be forced to wait for those results before travelling to Adelaide to play SBS in round 16 at Andrew Smith Drive Oval this Sunday week where in their last game in round seven Savoy defeated SBS 2-0 at John Pirie oval.
The John Smith coached Savoy Reserves was served with the same excuse to the local league team with Adelaide Croatia having advised about forfeiting the game midweek and now plays SBS next week in Adelaide.
The win to Savoy courtesy of a 2-0 forfeited result has the locals entrenched in fifth position on the Reserves ladder.

Macedonia United proved an opposing opponent to Savoy back in round 12 when the speedy and powerful United defeated the Vincent DeGioia’s coached Green and Whites outfit 4-2 at Brahma Lodge to dent the locals fine season.
The other three team to win semi-final berths are Elizabeth Downs who defeated Noarlunga United 4-0, glamour team Brahma Lodge just got over the line in a 3-2 win against Para Hills East and Ingle Farm who had a 2-0 win over Salisbury Inter.
