Man and girl arrested after stolen car found

Police have arrested a 17-year-old girl and 19-year-old man for the theft of a Hyundai Accent hatchback, stolen from Eden Hills on Tuesday, August 7. 

Police will allege that the car was stolen at 10.30pm on Tuesday August 7 and was spotted by patrols just before midnight on Wednesday August 8, parked in Swan Street, Risdon Park. 

A teenage girl and a man were seen near the car and immediately ran off as police approached. 

The 17-year-old girl from Eden Hills was arrested and has been charged with illegal use, theft, contravene learners permit and breaching bail. 

She has been refused bail and will appear in the Port Pirie Youth court at a later date. 

A 19-year-old man of no fixed address was located in Port Pirie on Thursday August 9 and was arrested. 

During a search, property was found in his possession which was stolen from a break-in which also happened on Thursday. 

He was charged with numerous offences including illegal use of a motor vehicle, driving unlicenced, breach of bail and aggravated serious criminal trespass and theft.
