Recorder flashbacks - 1997 part 10 | PHOTOS

Join us as we look back through The Recorder’s newspaper archives in our series of flashback galleries.

In this gallery, we look back through some of the stories and events that shaped September 1997.

For South Australians, it was an exciting year as the Adelaide Crows claimed its first premiership and was led by talented Port Pirie footballer Mark Bickley.

Internationally, it will be remembered as the year Diana, Princess of Wales, died in a car crash in Paris.

Popular movies in 1997 included the box office hit Titanic, The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Men in Black.

In music, Aqua’s Barbie Girl was the second most popular single for the year. Hanson, Savage Garden and No Doubt also had popular hits for the year.
