Pirie’s new Chief Executive Officer

WELCOME: Mr Peter Ackland, is the new CEO for the Port Pirie Regional Council.

The Port Pirie Regional Council have appointed a new Chief Executive Officer, Mr Peter Ackland (pictured), who will replaced Dr Andrew Johnson, who indicated he did not wish to renew his contract. 

Mr Ackland comes to the council with a wealth of experience, he is currently the CEO with the District Council of Loxton Waikerie, where he has served for 14 years, and has also been in senior management positions throughout local government since 1994. 

Mayor John Rohde says they are looking forward to working with Peter during the exciting time of transformation that the Port Pirie region is experiencing. 

“We feel confident that he brings both local government and commercial experiences and capabilities to build upon our current momentum.”

“We also take the opportunity to thank outgoing CEO Dr Andrew Johnson who leaves council in a strong financial position and has ensured that the council is well respected within the sector and by the community.”

Mr Ackland’s commencement date will be announced in the near future. 

“During Andrew’s time with council he has worked tirelessly to change the perceptions people have of Port Pirie, attract people and investment into the region as well as guided council through a large number of significant projects including the recent CBD upgrade.”

“Andrew has been instrumental in getting the current redevelopment of our sports precinct underway.”

Dr Andrew Johnson served the council for ten years and was one of the longest serving CEOs. 

Mayor John Rohde says they wish Andrew well for the future and they thank him for his service to the community.
