In answer to the city’s lack of hot water, Nyrstar and the Port Pirie Regional Council have come forward as saviours for the town’s population relying on gas for their hot water service, providing public access to warm showers.
Nyrstar is providing public access to its work camp on Beach Road, which has 63 single ensuite rooms and eight accessible ensuite rooms available.
The showering facilities are accessible to the public between the hours of 6pm and 9pm.
There is no access as previously reported from 3pm and 5pm but public access is still available from 6pm to 9pm.
Entry via the first car park entrance closest to Port Germein Road and visitors must sign in to use the showers.
The Port Pirie Swimming Pool is also allowing the public to use their showers between 6am and 9am and 6pm and 9pm until the gas is restored, but warns that there is limited capacity with only three men’s and three women’s cubicles.
Both services are provided free but require people bring their own towels and toiletries.
