Wandearah Road was buzzing with action on Saturday as Thompson’s Auto Repairs hosted its Show and Shine.
Organised by Aaron Harre, the son of the automotive shop’s owners Michael and Suzanne Harre, the event proved to be an enormous success.
The event had 71 entries across a variety of sections and Aaron said he was overwhelmed by the success of the event.
“We see a lot of beautiful cars come through the workshop. You never get to see them,” Aaron said.
“I thought it’d be a great opportunity to get the cars and bikes out of the sheds and appreciate them.”
While many people entered vehicles for the event’s competitions, others brought along their pride and joy just to have it on show.
The Show and Shine featured a variety of cars, motorbikes, race cars and speedway side cars.
The Port Pirie Go Kart Club brought along carts, including Chad Rodda’s number two.
Aaron invited community groups to participate in the event and sought the Lions Club of Port Pirie and Make-a-Wish to provide catering on the day.
As well as takings on the day, the clubs received $200 each from the event.
“I wanted to give back to the community,” Aaron said.
Aaron thanked some of the events sponsors, including LMG Automotive Doctors, Boats n Bikes, Richards Motors, Repco Port Pirie and Special Event Broadcasting.
After this year’s inaugural Show and Shine proved to be an outstanding hit, Aaron said another event in 2018 was certainly a possibility.
