Man and women remanded in custody after drugs and firearms found in search

A man and a woman have been arrested and charged with a number of firearms and drug offences following a police search acting on information received.

On Wednesday, June 14 at 9am, police attended a Port Pirie caravan park and located three rifles, a 12 gauge shotgun and a quantity of cannabis after a search of the woman’s vehicle.

Checks revealed the firearms were stolen from Western Australia.

A 33-year-old woman from Western Australia was arrested for firearms and drug offences and breach of bail.

Then at 1.50pm on Thursday, June 15 police returned to the same caravan park to follow up further information.

Police conducted a further search and located another rifle and three rifle bolts.

As a result police arrested a 37-year-old South Australian man for firearms offences and breach of bail.

Both were refused bail and remanded in custody after attending Port Pirie Magistrates Court on June 15.
