The Bollmeyer Tennis Competition was held in Port Pirie on Sunday, April 2.
It is a long going competition that is held by the Port Pirie Railway Pennant Tennis Club and was started over 50 years ago.
It used to be held early in the season, but now is held as the end of season get together event for the past 10 years or so and players are just picked out of a hat to play together for a Sunday afternoon event.
This year the tennis centre was booked to hold several events including the wedding of local player Kylan Oxford so we had to wait for a few weeks after the season was finished.
It was the day after the Junior Tennis Season Grand Finals so it was a big weekend for the junior players who played in the grand finals as well.
Also, as the Port Pirie and District Hockey Association started their first match of the season on Saturday, April 1, it was busy for hockey players as well.
This may have been the reason we were down on numbers a bit, but it was a perfect day for it.
We had a barbecue as usual as well with players bringing salads and sweets.
The club donated the meat for the barbecue.
