The Northern Demons will continue their dream-like fixtures when they will repeat last week’s confrontation when this time the Reds host Adelaide University in their second home and round 4 Westfield FFA Cup, after the Demons prevailed in a 1-0 win in Adelaide.
Almost two weeks ago both the Demons and University won their cup ties to advance further into the FFA Cup competition with the Northern Demons defeating Uni SA 8-2 and University Blacks defeating Seaford 5-1 in a surprise result.
However, after last week’s 1-0 away league win over the Blacks one expects the Demons to make it two straight against them in this early season of competition especially with this game being at Byrne Park.
But it is the poor scoring of the Demons in league competition that will be concerning Reds’ coach Andrew McMillan most who tips his charges to make good from their numerous chances in front of goals real soon.
Nonetheless, Saturday’s cup tie could see more goals than both teams provided in their game last week particularly when the two teams banged in a total of 13 goals in the previous FFA cup game where Demons’ Jaylan Capurso topped the list with five goals.
This Saturday the Demons could well alter their starting 11 with the locals facing top team the Adelaide Cobras the following week and an opponent that seems to have better fire power up front than the Reds currently have right now.
In the meantime it will be some cautious and careful soccer on Saturday for the Northern Demons suggesting there is no doubt the coming league game against the Cobras deserves all the attraction and all the attention necessary in general at Byrne Park.
NORTHERN DEMONS RESERVES & UNDER 18s
The Northern Demons face up to different opponents in this Saturday’s cup games with the Reserves playing Adelaide University where a similar result to last week is tipped, and the Under 18s take on Eastern United where the two teams are within a point of each other on the ladder.
The Demons Reserves won 6-0 last week, while Eastern United was flogged 9-0 by Playford City, and that score alone gives the young Demons team a big winning chance.
