BHAS Blue are due to play the losers of the other final played on Saturday, Jamestown, who lost to Port Germein in a very close competition, a draw after the 25 ends, so another end had to be played for a result, but this extra end also turned out to be a draw so a second extra end had to be played, with Port Germein ending up winning by 2 shots.

In the game BHAS Blue against Crystal Brook, it was Pat Vella and his team of Judy Underwood, Shirley Bennett and Doug Randall that got off to a great lead at the start, being up by 12 shots at the break, and continued their winning streak right up to the end of play, defeating J Francis 30 to 12.

Trevor Gill, Barry Magor, Maxine Northcott and Peter Kilgallon out played L Inglis in the last half of the game, allowing Crystal Brook to score on only 2 ends, winning 31 to 24.

Glenn Jackison, Jeff Arnold, Helen Magor and John Brine played P Cousins and just couldn’t find those 2 shots they needed to take out the game and lost 19 to 21.

Fred Searle, Wilma Hendry, Jeff Clifford and Peter Flower won the first half against T Wardle, but were over run by the Brookies in the last half losing 22 to 25.

BHAS Ladies’ Lawn Bowls Hosts Two-club Pairs Day

On Tuesday, March 14, BHAS had a two-club pairs day.

Members of BHAS had to find a partner from another club to compete in a pairs competition.

This promotes socialising between clubs.

The Pirie club also hold this type of event and it is a way to mingle and meet players from other clubs. The Winners of the day were Lina Amato (BHAS) and Agnes Dhu(Crystal Brook).

The Runners-Up were Judy Underwood and Betsy Wilson(Crystal Brook). Players from the Pirie Club, Crystal Brook, Laura/Gladstone, Gulnare and Wirrabarra participated.

BHAS Ladies Lawn Bowls Season End

On March 16 it was Grand Final Day held at Laura. Our Blue ladies competed against Crystal Brook in Division One.  They were competitive and made the “Brookies” work for it, but ultimately they went down. Crystal Brook also won the Division Two Finals, so they had an extremely successful season.  Congratulations!

BHAS Blue lost to Crystal Brook 37 shots to 47 shots. Maxine Northcott with Wilma Hendry, Shirley Bennett and Lorraine May won 22 shots to 19 shots against Agnes Dhu’s rink.

Agnes’ team, with Betsy Wilson, Maureen Frith and Kay Venning actually won more ends than Maxine’s girls, but a seven shot end early in the game gave Maxine’s girls the edge. Judy Underwood’s rink with Helen Magor, Marie Williams and Coral Partridge struggled for most of the game against Kay Cox’s rink and lost 15 shots to 28 shots.

Kay’s rink with Sue Burgess, Jean McLeod and Helen Greig played consistently and came home strongly to secure a sound victory. Well done to our girls for making it to Finals. Good Luck to those going to Country Carnival.
