Tigers 4 draw with Checkmates 4
Tigers 4 drew with Checkmates 4, in the first A1 women's game of the day at Leonard Park.
It was a tight game, with neither team scoring til the fourth frame.
Tamisha Caddy, Checkmates' pitcher, kept the Tigers batters at bay, with five strike outs in the first three digs, but tired in the fourth, walking five out of 10 batters.
The on base pressure got to the Checkmates side, causing errors in the field, and helped Tigers bring four across the plate, in Nadine Dunn, Evelyn Dumoi, Casey Baldock and Michayla Cox.
In Checkmates turn at bat, a dropped third strike put Jacqui Graham on base, who then scored off a single to Kim Schuller.
Sharon Ciampi hit one out to centre field, and an error at short stop put Sharyn Combe on base and brought Schuller home.
Jacque Bateson's two run single tied the game up, but the next two batters weren't able to get on, making it a point each for the premiership table.
Cougars 2 defeat Solly Cats 1
Cougars got the win over Solly Cats, 2 runs to 1, in the second game of the day.
It was a low scoring affair, with safe hits few and far between, and the first run not scored until the top of the fourth innings again.
Lead off batter for Cougars, Mell Gonsalves, hit safely through short stop to put her on base, and was brought home off the bat of Zali Adams.
Cats were quick to answer, also scoring one in the bottom of the dig.
Tracy Franke got on base through an error at second base and was then able to score on an error at centre field, tying the game up.

In the fifth and final innings, Justina Adams got to first through an error at third and was then moved round the bases with Alexis Hill’s hit to centre field, and Amanda Steff’s bunt.
With two out and bases loaded, a dropped third strike scored Adams and put Cougars in front.
Cats needed to score two for the win but a solid effort in the field for Cougars, saw them get Krista Young and Sam Burt out.
Franke was walked and had moved to third on a couple of wild pitches, but Emily Axon was thrown out by third base Hill, and that was the ball game.
