Premier on way for two-day visit later this month

Premier Jay Weatherill will visit Port Pirie within two weeks.

The Recorder contacted the Premier’s office on Tuesday and was told that Mr Weatherill would be in town on June 21 and June 22.

“Mr Weatherill’s office is organising an itinerary with Independent Member for Frome Geoff Brock,” a spokeswoman said.

It is less than a year since the Labor leader last called into Port Pirie in September last year. Mr Weatherill was a leader-in-waiting at the time and had not yet been officially sworn in as Premier.

Residents and community leaders will no doubt be hopeful that the visit will lead to funding for the city.

Opposition leader Isobel Red-mond’s last public visit to Port Pirie was in June last year.
