Playing for Port Pirie

June long weekend is synonymous with representative sport for many sports in Port Pirie and districts.

This weekend Spencer Gulf League footballers will travel to Whyalla to take on that league’s best footballers in their annual league, under 18 and under 15 grades on Saturday.

Port Pirie will also field a combined team in the North Adelaide Football Club’s Country Zone under 15 carnival at Laura on Monday.

Port Pirie junior hockey players will represent the association in the under 13 State Hockey Championships from Saturday until Monday.

Pirie players will combine with others in their zone from Yorke Peninsula and Clare for both the under 15 and under 18 zone championships.

Port Pirie Junior Soccer Association will also be represented in Adelaide this weekend in under 12 and under 14 divisions.

Port Pirie Netball Association will field teams under 17, 15 and 13 age groups at Country Carnival at Netball SA Park, at Keswick.

Port Pirie Darts’ Association will play host to both the major men’s and women’s competitions this weekend – the Men’s Country Championships and the ladies’ annual Brian Clark Memorial.
