Hungry Jacks here

At last … Hungry Jacks is coming to Port Pirie.

About 70 new jobs will be created with the development of the long-awaited fast-food restaurant, in Main Road.

The venture will cost about $4 million, will be locally owned and will be built by local tradesmen.

The restaurant will be beside Trend Pool and Spa Supplies whose owner Mark Possingham is in the final stages of talks with the Hungry Jacks parent company.

“We will put on a project manager so we can use local tradies to build the structure,” he said.

“We are looking at having the project built by the start of next year.”

Mr Possingham and wife Liz have invested almost $10 million in Port Pirie in the past decade of business.

He sees his decision to pursue the venture as an indication in his faith in our city.

“I think the economy will always go up and down. You need to keep promoting and moving forward and bringing things to the town,” Mr Possingham said.

“The mining sector will keep developing.” The couple has diversified their financial interests in recent years, launching a party-hire shop, and expanding their business to cope with variations in the economy.

Much excitement greeted the news of the project in the city this week.
