John Pirie grieves with the loss of a student

The identity of the Port Pirie girl murdered was confirmed as John Pirie Secondary School grieves for the loss of year 10 student, Rebecca Elizabeth Wild.

School’s new principal Roger Nottage described Rebecca as someone who worked hard and had great friendships within the school.

“Obviously staff and students of John Pirie Secondary School are devastated with the news,” Mr Nottage said.

“Lots of the students are coming to the school to support each other and the staff. Everyone is deeply upset.”

Mr Nottage said there was a staff meeting at the school this morning with representatives of the South Australian Police providing information about the case.

“Staff and students are having a difficult time, so we have social workers from the regional office who speak with them and provide all the support they need through this hard time.”

A 19-year-old member of the Quorn State Emergency Service has been charged with Rebecca's murder and the murder of 22-year-old Jessie-Leigh Fullerton.

New principal of John Pirie Secondary School, Roger Nottage, said staff and students are deeply sad with the loss of year 10 student Rebecca Wild.
