THE DUCHY OF CORNWALL

A private estate created in 1337 by Edward III for his son and heir. Its primary function is to provide the Prince of Wales with an income.

It consists of 53,628 hectares in 23 counties, mostly in the south-west of England.

The estate includes castles, farms, housing estates, commercial property, The Oval cricket ground in London, the Isles of Scilly and the family home of Highgrove House.

Duchy income helps fund the public and charitable works of Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and princes William and Harry.
