Anthony wins singles trophy

Young Port Pirie tennis player Anthony Oliphant won the singles trophy in the 12 and under boys at the recent Country Carnival at Memorial Drive.

He was also a part of the 12 and under boys’ team which won the team’s event.

Both events were held in the January school holidays.

Port Pirie defeated Mount Gambier & Districts Tennis Association and Lower Murray Combined associations each on two occasions, Has well as the Hills Tennis Association and Barossa & Gawler Combined association each once.

Players competed on three different surfaces at the carnival - grass, clay and hard courts.
