After the week off for most softballer players round 15 hits with a vengeance this week.
The association welcomes back junior grades after their extended break.
Teams will contest week 15 and 16 matches and then take Saturday, February 18 off for the Junior State Championships.
The championship will be held in the Hills Association.
Normal games then resume for two weeks.
Saturday, March 10 it will be semi final day for the 2011/12 season.
The grace period for players to play up and down has now finished and games players play in the grades for which they were not registered will now be counted.
Only a small number of games are allowed before players will be tied to one grade for the rest of the season including the finals.
A1 women
Solly Cats will play Tigers in the early game and will need to regroup after their loss to Checkmates the last time they played.
Infielders Phillipa Woolford, Krista Young and Penny Lynch will be looking to cut off the Tigers’ hits and put Cats into a winning position.
Hannah Clarke, Hannah Conradi and Amanda Cousins will be in a position to do likewise for Tigers.
Checkmates and Cougars will be up against each other in the 3.15pm game and will be hoping for the availability of Tamisha Caddy to be a reality for them this week.
Cougars could also realistically have Candice Moyses available.
That would free up Ann Russack and Kerri Anne Stirling to play in another field position.
Checkmates had Jacque Bateson, Sharyn Combe and Sharon Ciampi competing last weekend in Adelaide and they will need to bounce back and recover quickly in readiness for this game.
Men
There will be no double header again this week for any senior team including the men.
TBC will play Tigers at 5pm with Checkmates having the bye this week.
Checkmates upset TBC’s apple cart in the last round of games.
However, TBC is not known for losing too many games on the trot so I would expect them to come back stronger and tougher this week.
Men’s teams are known for their long hits so outfielders Matt Crosnier, Casey O’Neill, Dylan Adams, Kierran Clayton, Tate Brook and Brodie Moyses will have their work cut out for them in their respective sides in this game.
Under 17 girls
Checkmates have scored the double header first week back and will play Tigers first at 9am and then Solly Cats at 11.45am.
Tigers and Cats tussled it out in the games before Christmas and if they can start a fresh Checkmates will have their work cut out for them in the first game.
Briony Bateson and Ella Johns for the front line of the Checkmates attack and will need to be well supported by Lily Radomsuk and Tayla Fuss.
Tigers played strongly for the majority of the games before Christmas but had a couple of hiccup games to finish of this part of the season.
Kylie Norton and Michayla Cox doing the pitching and catching job for Tigers will need to accurate and ready for anything that might come their way.
Cats players Hannah Scarman, Holly Smith and Grace Rawlins will I’m sure be ready for anything the Checkmates’ batters send their way as well as batting well for their team.
The next few games will be a real test as these teams prepare for the finals round after some of them have played in the junior championships a couple of weeks’ time.
