Port Pirie won two State Championships from the two teams it sent to the recent Senior State Championships in Adelaide.
The B grade men’s side played its minor round games against both A and B grade teams – winning all of its B grade games – against NAMSA, Hills and Sunraysia.
Port Pirie then played NAMSA again in the grand final – defeating it 6-1 to take the B grade title.
The C grade women’s side had a blend of experience, youth, grit and determination, which saw it win its title.
They played seven minor round games – winning four of them to gain a place in the grand final.
The Pirie team had lost to Adelaide Blue twice in the minor rounds but turned the tables for the grand final to win the State Championship.

Game seven: Port Pirie 6 d defeated Gawler 0 (Sam Cook – two safe hits)
Grand final: Port Pirie 6 defeated Adelaide Blue 2 (Deanna Sofia – safe hit plus a home run, Sharyn Combe – three safe hits, Jacque Bateson – home run)
