Rain ruins final round of bowls

21 Dec, 2011 03:39 PM
The final round of bowls before the Christmas/New Year break was decimated by the heavy rain that swept in during Saturday afternoon.

Boucher first division team visited Peterborough for the start of the second round matches.

Off to a good start, BHAS built up a comprehensive early lead, only for the heavens to open up and play to be abandoned for the day.

That left the BHAS team heading home on a very wet trip.

Second and third division played home games and managed to play a sufficient number of ends to constitute a match, before play was called off.

After 51 per cent of the ends to be played both BHAS teams were narrowly in front and that was enough to get the points.

The fourth division side played at Port Germein and after a few ends this match was also called off.

That’s all for this year, except to wish all bowlers and readers of the Recorder a happy Christmas and New Year.
