Ryan drives four winners

14 Dec, 2011 02:40 PM
It was driver Ryan Hryhorec’s night at Port Pirie Harness Racing Club’s meeting on Friday, when he drove four winners.

He won the second, third, sixth and seventh races - with Doctor Ten CC, Hombre Higgins, Valley of Fire and Ultimate Call respectively.

Port Pirie trainer Lyndon Hall had a big stable at the meeting and featured prominently in the eight card results, with two winners and multiple placings.

Officials said 500 people attended the race night, which was a fundraiser for Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).

Race one honoured RDA volunteer Barry Flink, who passed away in September.

Tango Bromac won the 2050m Barry Flink Mem-orial Pace for Chris Harrison, driven by Darren Billinger.

The bay gelding led home Lindsay Piper’s Jasper Dunbar (driven by David Smith), Hall’s Global Gift (driven by Hryhorec), with Leah Harvey driving Unique Sound, which she also trained, for fourth.

Hall trained a quinella in the Ray Williams Memorial Pace with Doctor Ten CC (Hryhorec) beating and Salsa Blue (driven by Dale Afford) by a short-half head.

Motoway finished third for fellow Port Pirie trainer Wayne Brodie, while yet another Pirie trainer, Lindsay Piper, trained fourth placed The Odds.

Nine-year-old bay Hombre Higgins made the trip worthwhile for his Victorian trainer Tony Llewellyn - again with Hryhorec the reinsman - in race three the Pete’s Handyman Pace.

Second was another elder statesman on the track, eight-year-old Heza Good Looking Guy (driver Darren Billinger) for Cowell trainer John Phillips, with Cheryl Herman-trained and driven Magnetic Lone Star third and Pirie’s Michael Dennis trained and owned Prince Calaf which came in fourth.

Race four, the Pirie Pest Control Pace, was declared a no race due to starter error.

Local driver Leah Harvey drove Tirano Bliss for a win in race five, the 1609m Hopkins Saddlery Pace, for trainer Stephen Papps.

Second was So It Goes (driver Billinger) trained by Ashleigh Dunkley, third LetLoose Lombo (driver Matthew Smith) trained by Justin Brewin and fourth Dilinger Blue (driver Hryhorec) trained and owned by Hall’s Harness Racing.

Race six, the Cartridge World Trotters’Handicap, held over 2530m from a standing start, produced another winner from the reins of Hryhorec, that time for trainer Ray Goble with the nine-year-old chestnut gelding Valley of Fire.

Second was Indiheir, driven and trained by Andrew Chennells; third Nigel Stardust (driver Billinger) trained by Kim Procter; and fourth Doctor Kovac (driver Luke Alcorn) for Luke O’Neill.

Hryhorec drove his second winner for Lyndon Hall, when he won race seven, the Travelway Motel three-year-old Pace, with Ultimate Call over 2050m.

Jayden’s Boy (driver M Smith) was second for Brewin; third Thinks Hesaa Falcon trained and driven by Billinger; and fourth Leah Harvey trained and driven Big Bad Mal.

The final race on the card, the Irvine’s Transport four-year-old and older Pace was a family affair for winner RoseOnTheAvenue.

Port Broughton trainer Greg Sims’ four-year-old bay mare, was driven by Bradley Sims and owned by Greg and Chris Sims.

Harvey trained and drove second-placed Our Brig-adoon; third was Waylon Hornhardt trained-Aussie Falcon with Pirie reinsman Wade Knight on board; and fourth Moun-tains of Art, trained by Port Pirie’s Matthew Young (driver Paul Fidge).
