After having the week off last weekend because of the Inter-Association game, SGL football returns for one round before again taking a break.
Next weekend sees the Country Championships in Port Pirie and the majority of players will again have the weekend off.
Players may find it difficult to keep momentum when they break often in the middle of the season or the rest will allow those with injuries to recover ready for the second half of the year.
To start round 10, Central Augusta hosts Solomontown on Saturday at Central Oval and they will be keen to get back in the winner’s circle after losing to Port
After only being 2 points down at half time Centrals were no match for the pace of Port in the second half and lost by 33 points.
The previous week they defeated the top side, West Augusta and inconsistency has been their biggest enemy all season.
Solomontown were defeated by South Augusta but showed some good signs in the first half and more of this form will be encouraging to all their supporters.
They allowed South to kick the first 5 goals of the match before recovering before half time and if that happens this week they again will struggle to win. Central Augusta will again rely on Rob Clayton-Waye, Garry Hull and Ryan Morris to kick a winning score and with Nick Callary and Sean Dawson in good form they will difficult to beat.
Lindsay Bearman continued his excellent form with the SGL side against Whyalla and he has had a tremendous season to date to be one of the few Cats players who could be happy with the year.
Craig Tee, James Moyse and Marc Scollin have not done much wrong to date and have been having reasonable seasons.
As is the case most weeks, they need to get more consistent help from the rest of the team.
Central Augusta is tipped to win this one but Solomontown are gradually improving and could surprise with a very overdue win.
