On Saturday afternoon, on an overcast day for the grand final, Wandearah yet again proved what a powerhouse side they are when they recorded their sixth straight premiership when they absolutely embarrassed Props by bowling them after only 66.
In a terrible performance by Props, it was again youngster Karl Button who was brilliant as he bucked up his five wicket haul from the semi final against Props.
He put in another man of the match performance when he ripped through the Prop lineup to end with the amazing figures of six overs, 5 for 5 which is a grand final record.
Props needed to win the toss and they did.
As expected Peter Bessen replaced the injured Simon Fuchs in the lineup, where as for Wandearah, they went in with an unchanged lineup.
So the Props openers strode out to the wicket but their innings turned out to be a disaster as they were 1 for 34 before being bowled out for only 66 with Randall Wyatt top scoring with 24.
In an embarrassing effort for Wandearah with the ball, Karl Button was outstanding with his pace and he ended up with amazing figures of 5 for 5 with Rhys Elliot lending goal support with two wickets in a fantastic bowling performance by the great side.
So after an awesome bowling display from Wandearah, they had to back it up with the bat and set the runs as quick as possible as rain was threatening.
They got the required runs in 16 overs for the loss of only two wickets of Marcus Ganley and Adam Wilson who top scored with 20 with Greg Carmody, 16 not out and Gabe turci 14 not out who hit the winning runs.
Being there at the end, for Props with the ball, Tate Bradley and Tyson Horsell took one wicket each, so another cricket season over and yet again it’s congratulations to Wandearah on their sixth straight premiership.
For Props - more heartbreak for them but they must come back better and stronger next year and try to knock Wandearah off the top.
