Wandearah move to top

12 Dec, 2011 02:35 PM
Wandearah inflicted Proprietary’s second loss for the season in a close match at Globe Oval on Sunday.

The match was reduced to 38 overs due to a late start.

Props won the toss and elected to bat and got away to a quick start to be 31 from the first five overs when Nick Amin removed Randall Wyatt (28) to have Props 1/32.

Simon Fuchs (12) and Lazro Kovacevic (11) had helpful partnerships with Andy Fuchs, who was batting well.

Tate Bradley (0) was caught in the deep by Matt Thomson.

When Andrew Fuchs (44) was dismissed in the same fashion Props were sitting at 5/102 with 10 overs left to bat.

Dylan Brooks (16) and Leigh Warwick (24) added 41 for the next wicket, before losing their wickets on consecutive deliveries.

Jono Makai saw out the innings with two lusty sixes for the Prop side, to finish on 7/157 from their 38 overs - a very competitive total.

Greg Carmody was the best of the bowlers with 3/27.

Marc Congdon and Nick Amin each picked up two wickets.

Wandearah started its chase with Greg Carmody and Matt Thornton.

It was a successful partnership of 83 before Thornton(35) edged one to gully.

Mark Crouch (4) came and went looking for quick runs as Wandies needed six runs an over with 11 overs to go.

Cody Brooke added 18 valuable runs and Dave Clarke (10) was elevated in the order to do some big hitting.

However, it was Greg Carmody who steered Wandies to a good win in the second to last over to finish 75 not out, in a controlled batting performance.

Scott Gray also finished 10 mot out.

The final total for the Wandearah side was 4/159.

Tate Bradley was the only multiple wicket-taker with 2/21.

A very good win for the Wandies’ side who now move to the top of the A grade ladder.

Props need to regroup and be ready for South Port next week.
