Last week’s winners hit the pitch

Last week’s winners hit the pitch

10 Dec, 2009 01:53 PM

This game should be a good contest with the inform and top-placed Props up against the third placed South-Port with both sides producing good wins last week.

Last time the two met Props were the victor and they will go into this game as favorites as they are playing some fantastic cricket.

They have a very talented batting lineup let by openers in Andrew Fuchs who is still one of Pirie’s best, fellow opener in Dwayne Sedunary who returned to form last week with 60.

They have the experience of Simon Fuchs who is having another fine year and Lazro Kovacevic who is a very good player but is well down on form by his standards.

The rest of their lineup will come from Richard Cable who has been a real fire for the Props since crossing from Sollies.

The hard hitting Peter Bessen and Adam Wade who is more than capabale on his day and that is a lineup that is very hard to dismiss.

As for their bowling they have wicket-takers everywhere with Tyson Horsnell, Pirie’s most improved bowler in my opinions having a very good season.

The reliable Kane Wallace, the real bonus for their bowling attack has been the recruitment of big Johnno Makai who last week took five wickets and is having a fantastic season.

And then of course they have captain Tate Bradley with his offspin and the master in Simon Fuchs with his legspin who is really bowling well at the moment.

And while on Simon last week against Sollies he brought up yet another milestone in his great career when he took his 650th wicket in a great effort. So congratulations Simon.

Now on to South-Port. While they posted a big total last week their top order did struggle early and if it was not for the efforts of Chris Pollard and Dylan Sykes it could have needed in a loss.

So this week their batting must fire against a good bowling attack.

Opener Paul Martin continues to get starts but gets out at crucial times.

So he must turn those starts into big scores.

Wayne Gray is another batsmen who needs a big score as he is batting the ball ????.

Chris Pollard and Dylan Sykes batted very well last week and must take that form into this match.

Where South-Port are struggling with the bat is with Shaun Obst and Daniel Allison who are not making runs.

So they must start to do so.

As for their bowling they are missing Simon Carroll and James Pavlick who are both good bowlers and they need them back in the side.

So it will again be up to John Marrett, Chris Pollard, Dylan Sykes and legspinner Boyd Shean to get amongst the wickets if they are to win this match.

So in summing up this match it should be a good game of cricket with both sides very good but I do think however Props have too many good players in form and are playing very good cricket.

So for that reason I will tip Props to win this match against their opponent in a good game
