Two young tennis champions will get the opportunity of a lifetime when they travel to Sydney to compete against players from around the country at Homebush.
Zoe Anastasiou and Caleb Brown are part of a state country tennis team that will take part in the tournament in January, which will include a day of training and three days of competition.
The tennis stars shone at the Federation Cup when their team made it to the semi-finals.
They then qualified to represent the state in the Be Active and Foundation Cup State teams.
The Cup will start with a training session on January 11, which will give Zoe and Caleb the chance to meet their teammates and observe their competition.
Zoe and Caleb have never been to Sydney before, and Zoe said she is “really excited” about winning the place in the team.
She said of all the sports that she plays, tennis is her favourite.
Caleb said this is the highlight of his tennis career. Caleb’s Dad, Alex Brown had all the details of where the kids will be staying and what their days will be like.
He said the kids will be on their own and separated from parents, only to mix with their teammates and other players.
The Cup will take place at the same time as the Sydney International Tournament, an event held in the lead up to the Australian Open. Locally, Zoe and Caleb play on opposing teams. Zoe plays junior tennis with Trinity, and Caleb plays A grade boys tennis for Railway Uniting.
Both have played in the senior competition.
They will be competiting in the 13 and under category.
